Since last we met in February, your Chapter 296 leaders have been very busy on your behalf.  We have learned a lot, we have represented your interests in several different settings, and we have a lot to report to you on a wide range of issues.  This is true every month.

On February 13, 2017, Chapter 296 members ratified the new Collective Bargaining Agreement (CBA) that chapter leaders negotiated on your behalf after getting your input. A couple of weeks ago, we received word that the new CBA had received clearance through the "agency head review" process.  What does that mean?  When does the new CBA go into effect?  When does everyone get their own copy of the CBA?  We will let you know all of that at the meeting.

Today, April 20th, Phase 2 begins for the move of NPS employees from the 1201 Eye Street facility to the MIB (Main Interior Building).  While the move orientations were good and, in general, Phase 1 of the move went smoothly, there are some things that those of us in Phase 1 wish that we had known in advance.  At our meeting, we will have an information exchange to share what we learned and answer any detailed questions that folks in phases 2 --4 might have.  Also, the Union continues to have contact with the "Move Team" on various issues.  We will share with you a summary of what we have learned.  There have been some developments since last we met.  Of course, the Union office is moving too.  We will let you know how we are continuing to function while the move is in process. For example, the Union candy supply has moved to MIB and will be available at the meeting.

The current Continuing Resolution runs through April 28, 2017.  No one knows with any level of surety what will happen next. There are steps that Union members can take to ensure that they know what is going on.  We will let your know what you can do to stay informed.  Suffice to say, there is information that the Union can provide that others cannot.  Tune in to find out.

If there is time, we will provide updates on other topics.  As always, we will provide plenty of time for both 1) your questions and answers and 2) your comments and suggestions.

Because this meeting is designed for WASO staff only, we will monitor the call-ins.
All WASO staff members are welcome! Please join us.  Bring a friend or listen in with one!  Enjoy lunch with your co-workers while you learn the latest news from Chapter 296.
